The aim of this project is to gain practical knowledge on the development of a bankerplant system against cabbage aphid. A first phase in this process comprises screening multiple plant species on suitability. To be useful in a bankerplant system plant species should host alternative prey, attract natural enemies of the focal pest, don’t attract the focal or other pest species, and be easily cultured. In a second phase of the project different configurations of the bankerplants will be tested in a field-setting. The impact of this system on pest density and crop damage will be monitored. Gained knowledge on this innovative technique will be transferred to the growers during demo’s and through the use of different communication channels.
